CBD and CANNABINOID TREATMENTS

Use these 3 recipes to make treatments at home
(This website does not sell treatments)

Let's Start with the current information from the US Government
Check your current local laws and Review Drug Interactions at Drugs.com a site doctors use.

Cannabis coconut oil is great for cooking and eating.  Substitute for oil or butter in your baking.

Try a teaspoonful  dissolved in caffeine free tea, or
warm milk at bedtime.

Topical use is very effective also, as the medicine absorbs well through our skin, so just rub some on  wherever it hurts.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in marijuana.

CBD is not impairing, meaning it does not cause a “high.”
CBD is approved for infants and all ages to treat tremors and seizures, glaucoma or to slow the progress, Rx drug injury, anxiety, depression, pain, insomnia,

CBD can be derived from hemp or from non-hemp plants.
Hemp is defined as any part of the cannabis sativa plant with no more than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the mind-altering substance in marijuana.

CBD Use in the United States

In 2018, the U.S. Congress passed and signed into law the Agriculture Improvement Act.
This law removed hemp from the federal Controlled Substances Act, effectively legalizing CBD if it comes from hemp. However, a few states have not removed hemp from their state’s controlled substances acts, so legality of CBD prod
ucts differs across states.

CBD is marketed in many consumer products:

Recipe #1: Coconut Oil Topical Treatments

HOW TO MAKE CBD TREATMENTS AT HOME

Easy Homemade CBD Tincture and Salve Recipes: See links and instructions below.

CBD Coconut Oil Topical.

Pain relief. Relieves muscle spasms, skin and hair moisturizer and natural antibacterial. Also used in cooking like butter. Ingredients: Organic marijuana, water, and organic GMO free coconut oil.

CBD Topical Salve ~ Recipe included inside. Coconut oil allergy alert. (see link for options)

My friend also makes the (topical salves) and the recipe will be included, but this is the recipe I used. (this is made with food grade organic vegetable glycerin so it might not be the right option, for diabetics, it's very sweet) I will share what i've learned and ask you to share what you've learned, too.

CBD: Safe and effective?

What You'll Need:
Canning Jars (NOT necessary for this coconut oil recipe)
Slo
w cooker or Double Boiler
Pot holders
2 Small clea
n hand towels (1 for hands and 1 extra)
Strainer
Glass or non poris bowl
Small spoon, medium spoon
Spatula, you'll want every drop.
Cheesecloth or other filter material o
r press
Containers to serve and store
Water 1/4 volume of the batch

3 Different Recipes

1. The Cannabis Coconut oil (which can be taken  internally, used to bake or cook with, but also makes a great body rub topical treatment and pain relief.
The medicine absorbs very well through skin.

2. The Cannabis Tincture recipe made with vegetable glycerine is very convenient and discreet - one can just take a few drops under the tongue, or squirt it into a beverage, or load it into an e-cig to vaporize it.

Use basically the same method for either.
(The device's manufacturer may warn not to use as vape for reasons of health,
and or the product may harm the user's vaping device.)

3. Frankly I don't make the Cannabis Alcohol based treatment because alcohol does not agree with me, and this option is flammable and must be prepared and processed in a well ventilated area.
Some people make this recipe outside.

Smoking and vaping are not the most healthy options to use cannabinoid treatments but many people prefer to smoke because the affects are different, but there is no THC in hemp.
These recipes are used to reduce the need to smoke or eliminate smoking altogether. Smoking anything is dangerous to one's health over time.

The problem with making the treatments at home, is there is no way to know dose strength, but the topical produces no head high or euphoric feelings other than the natural feelings from the pain stopping. The Glycerine recipe reported some people can feel a slight buzz. If the product was made with hemp, there is no chance of getting "high". It may take 2 weeks or more for the full affects but many report relief in a few minutes.

Step 1

Crush to Prepare Plant for Cooking

Organic GMO FREE Coconut Oil Recipe #1

1 Prepare plant materials to cook. Break up to expose as much surface area as possible.

2  To estimate how much plant product to use, fill the pot to the desired level, or as high as 1/2 to 3/4 full.
Be sure there is a lot of room for the coconut oil too.
Remove the dry plant material, and set aside in a clean bowl.

3 Melt desired amount of coconut oil, in slow cooker pot.

4 After coconut oil melts, fill pot of oil with prepared marijuana or Hemp plant material.
Add the plant base to the melted oil, to fill line or a few inches about the top of the plant base to cover completely.

5 Stir until plant material is saturated and let cook.
Add more coconut oil to the cooking pot's fill line, or desired height in the cooking pot. Add additional coconut oil only towards the beginning, and don't add more coconut oil, after cooking 30 minutes, or fully heated to avoid desaturation of the final product.

6 Turn slow cooker power "on" to low heat setting.
Place lid on top to keep the product clean and temperature even while cooking.
Simmer for a few hours.

7 Stir every hour or so, for best results.   I let my batches cook up to 6 hours.

8 Let cool to the touch, and remove cooked plant material
, and throw away, or use in compost.

9 Strain out as much plant materials out during this step, and cool to room temperature. Cover to keep dust out.

10 Place covered in refrigerator, until coconut oil is good and solid. This should take a few hours or over night.

11 Press on the top on one side to loosen and separate the water and CBD coconut oil. Pop!

12 While coconut oil is cool and solid, pour out water and throw away or use in compost.

13 Melt again in the slow cooker
14 Strain
15 Fine filer
16 Pour in containers to store.

17 Personal size containers may be stored at room temperature covered.

18. Label for Safety
Enjoy

This coconut recipe is the best to start with, because it's used as a topical and or to ingest, and is the easiest to make.

Often the hardest part - obtaining the main ingredient.

The hardest  part in most of the world alas is usually obtaining the cannabis, but if you can do that, there are two preparations that I think might be useful.

Step 2

Cook

To estimate how much plant product to use, fill the pot to the desired level, or as high as 1/2 to 3/4 full.
Be sure there is a lot of room for the coconut oil too.
Remove the dry plant material, and set aside in a clean bowl.

Step 3

Normal slow cooker with only water fill to almost the fill line.

No boiling so the only risk is your jars tipping over or bubbling over so do not over fill the jars or the slow cooker.

Step 4

When making coconut oil, melt the organic coconut oil liquid without water or anything other than coconut oil and hemp / marijuana to cook.

If making tincture, Start with either vegetable glycerine
(sweet - not ok for person with diabetes or dietary restrictions) or allergies to food grade kosher propylene glycol.

Glycol or vegetable glycerine can be bought in large bottles from some  herbal supply stores or online.
As always, store open containers in a cool dry clean place.

Stir to get the maximum CBD to binde to the base.
Continue cooking until liquid is greenish in color.
Cool slowly to touch.
Let cool. Cool to room temperature.

To speed cooling process, spread the mixture out on a non-pouris glass, or ceramic, or plastic plate.

I noticed most of the oder is avoided if you allow full cooling before continuing to Strain, Press, Filter!

When making coconut oil, soak and cover the cannabis with about two-thirds coconut oil and one-third water.

Cool slowly to touch. Do not change temperature too fast, or risk breaking the canning jar, and ruining the entire batch.

Continue cooking until liquid is greenish in color.
Let cool but you'll have to melt it again if you allow it to get cooler than approx 78 degrees in temperature.

Straining, filtering, and jarring / packaging requires the product to be warm.

Step 5

Cool

After fairly cool, it's time to filter.
To speed cooling process, spread the mixture out on a non-pouris glass, or ceramic, or plastic plate, or bowl.

The strength also depends partly on how long you cook and my only rule  of thumb is to let it cook for at least a couple of hours.

Step 6

Strain

-Cool naturally until cool to the touch.

Remove as much cooked plant material as possible at this stage by pouring through a strainer while still warm.

To speed cooling, remove liquid from heated slow cooker pot, and pour into a large glass or
Reminder: Be careful about sudden changes of temperature when using ceramics and glass may cause cracks or breaking and ruining the product.
-Cool until solid to separate the oil and water.

I use tempered heat resistant glass or ceramic bowl, and cover loosely to keep out any dust or insects while cooling.

After solidified and a lovely light green color, fine filtering is the next step.
Use a spoon or anything clean to press on one side of the top to break the seal around the edges.
Pop the solid chilled coconut oil top off, and separate from the container to place in a new clean bowel, or pour water out to keep the coconut oil as clean and dry as possible.

You'll see the brownish green water will be on the bottom layer to discard,
and the solidified unfiltered CBD coconut oil floats to the top to filter.

Remove the water and discard. The reason you added water to the coconut oil and  plant mixture, is that it takes out excess color and flavor.

The next step is strain and filter

The  medicine bonds to the oils in the coconut oil, but some of the color  and smell go away in the water. But now you have this warm oil-and-water mixture that has to separate. Fortunately coconut oil is solid at  coolish room temperatures so you can just set your strained mixture, all  clean and free of plant matter, into a wide bowl or pie pan and let it  cool.

After it's partly cool, you might want to transfer it to the  refrigerator to finish cooling. -- speeds cooling process.

Step 7

Filter

Final fine filter, use cheesecloth to get all the liquid out of what remains of the plant, and then use the drip filter method for final filter through 4 layers.

My generous friend grew and gave me her plant stems and small buds, about an ounce of pretty good smoke, effective CBD THC but a but bit harsh and would require smoke ng too much to medicate. ....so it's the perfect product for topicals and edibles.

It took me months to prepare, gather items needed, triple check the instructions. (Cognitive and visual impairment, pain, seizures). I wanted to make it exactly like my friend makes hers because it's some of the best. It will be easier next time, and have enough marijuana left over, for at least one more batch!

Step 8

Containers

Store.  When it's well cooled, the hard coconut oil will be on top of the liquid  water, so you can just lift/chip it off, pat it dry on a kitchen towel, and then remelt it to return it to jars for storage.

It can be  kept at room temperature for some time but it keeps longer in the  refrigerator.

The left-over water doesn't have much use, nor the  left-over plant matter - most of the medicine should be well out of  there and bonded to the tincture base or the coconut oil.

Recipe #2: Organic Vegetable Food Grade Glycerine

Easy Homemade CBD Tincture and Salve Recipes: See links and instructions below.

Organic Food Grade Kosher Vegetable
Glycerine Recipe #2:

1. Fill Cleaned Dry Canning
Jar(s) 1/2 to 3/4 full of marijuana or Hemp to find the desired volume of plant material is the right amount for your containers and or amount of this  batch.

2. Fill with organic food grade kosher vegetable glycerin to near top of jar but not over fill line.

4. Stir until herb is saturated.

Add more vegetable glycerin, if necessary before cooking.

5 Screw lid(s) on very loosely  . ...do not tighten.
Increases
in temperature cause expansion so keep lids loose while cooking and while hot.

6 Place jar(s) into slow cooker pot
Avoid placing cool jars in heated liquid.
Fill water an inch from the top of the rim of the jar.

7 Turn slow cooker on to low.
Simmer for a few hours.  Stir every hour or two.
I cook mine, for up to 6 hours.

8 Cool
9 Strain
10 Filter
11 Containers
12. Label for Safety
Enjoy

Step 1

Often the hardest part - obtaining the main ingredient.
The hardest  part in most of the world alas is usually obtaining the cannabis,
but if you can do that, there are two preparations that I think might be useful.

Break up/grind the dry cannabis leaf, trim, stems and flowers/buds, so the plant material will expose as much surface area as possible to the liquid base.
(The strength of  your preparation will depend mostly on the strength of the cannabis strain used.

Use the best organic responsibly farmed product as possible, and if able experiment with different strains to see  if a high-cbd or high-THC or more balanced strain is best for each individual person).

You'll Need:
Canning Jars
Flow cooker
Water
Paper Towels
Pot holders and a small hand towel.
Jar 3/4 full of marijuana

Fill with organic food grade kosher vegetable glycerin to near top of jar.
Stir until herb is saturated.
Add more vegetable glycerin, if necessary.
Screw lid on very loosely . ...do not tighten jar lids or change temperature of the glass too suddenly or risk cracking or shattering the glass canning jars or other glass products.

Place jar into slow cooker
and fill water an inch from the top of the rim of the jar.
Turn slow cooker on to low heat setting.
Simmer for a few hours.
Stir every hour for best results.

Step 2

Organic Kosher Food Grade Vegetable Glycerin -- Sweet to the taste.
(This recipe is Not for those with diabetes or dietary restrictions)
or allergies to food grade kosher propylene glycol.

Be certain you get the ORGANIC KOSHER FOOD GRADE Vegetable Glycerin.

Photos shown are prior to cooking, before  and after stirring.

 When making tincture,
Start with either vegetable glycerine

Glycol or vegetable glycerine can be bought in large bottles from some  herbal supply stores or online.

As always, store open containers in a cool dry clean place.

When making coconut oil, melt the organic coconut oil liquid without water or anything other than coconut oil and hemp / marijuana to cook in slow cooker.

Once it's all soaked through and there's enough liquid to  a-little-more-than-cover the cannabis, screw a metal lid on loosely and  place the jar in water up to an inch or so lower than its rim, in a slow  cooker (aka crock pot) and turn the heat down to low.

You can cook multiple jars at one time but just make sure they don't boil or they might bang against each other and crack and break.

If you don't have a slow cooker you can do this in a bain marie on the stove.  Just place the covered jars in a water bath in a saucepan, and bring it to a low simmer and keep it there.
Add a little more water if it gets low, but you probably won't need to as you're just simmering, not boiling.

Step 3

Normal slow cooker with only water fill to almost the fill line.
Use Empty Jars to displace the water to avoid overflow when adding the jars. You can always add water and should try to keep the water levels up near the top of the liquid inside the jars while cooking.

No boiling so the only risk is your jars tipping over or
bubbling over so do not over fill the jars or the slow cooker.

Step 4

I started with clean dry 6oz canning jars and lids,
but you can use any sizes that fit.

Step 5

Carefully remove jars to stir product. Use canning tongs if you have them.
Stir by twisting jars to stir about once an hour,
to get the maximum CBD to binde to the base.

Continue cooking until liquid is greenish in color.

Cool slowly to touch. Do not change temperature too fast, or risk breaking the canning jar, and ruining the entire batch.

Step 6

Filtering is the most difficult and time consuming step, so anything you can do to streamline the process helps.

After fairly cool, to speed cooling process, spread the mixture out onto a non-pouris glass, or ceramic plate to cool. (optional)

Strain - trying to preserve as much of  the liquid as you can.

1. Cooked and Unfiltered

2. After 1st Straining

3.After Final Fine Filter

Step 7

The friend who taught me how to do this, used cheesecloth and squeezed it through but found that was too course so he switched to nylon. I found any sort of fabric retained too much of the oil for my liking so I strained it in a  colander, pushing with a wooden spoon to smoosh as much liquid from the  plant material as possible, and then re-straining through a finer food  strainer.

Then I found a great gadget, a tabletop fruit press, which  strains and presses the liquid out really really well, and then I found  great success using a coffee press.

Whatever you can use that squeezes the liquid from the cooked plant matter, cleanly and efficiently, use that.

If you made tincture that's  it - you're done.

Step 8

After final fine filter.
This looks amber with a slight hue of green, but colors vary by plant colors.

Only a very fine particulate matter remains and you may filter as finely as you wish until more clear if you prefer.

Very little smell or taste remains and the flavor is sweet. (see link for options for those with dietary restrictions)

The tincture, can be taken a drop or two under your tongue, or  stirred into a beverage, or vapourised in an e-cig or a vapouriser  designed for use with liquids.

A bottle with an application dropper is convenient.

Use new clean dry herbal treatment tincture bottles that come with eye-droppers to bring it to the patient in a manageable size container, but you can store your tincture in the glass jars (cleaned of plant matter) with the lids on tight.

Pour into clean personal application bottles with a convenient dropper.
Store sealed in jars in refrigerator.

Fill personal 2 oz sized applicators and containers,

may be stored at room temperatures, for quite some time.

To use, measure a few drops or more, is the common dosage.

Personal size can be stored in a cool clean place and refilled.

Label: CBD Medicine Keep away from children and pets.

Reminder:
It's not legal to sell CBD or Marijuana without proper certification,
permits, and approval from authorities. See your local laws.

Remember, there is no way to control dosage, and the preparation must be strictly controlled, so avoid problems and DO NOT SELL controlled substances

Cannabinoids may not be the right treatment for everyone, but the risks are low.
Save money, taxes, delivery expenses, and use what you already have or what others might be throwing away. Nothing not even seeds are waisted.

CBD and Drug Testing

A collection of tips and sources, and recommendations:

Quote from Rx Antidepressant Survivor: "I took a medical grade, 10-Panel urine drug test yesterday (used in the workplace), to prove that by using our 99.9% THC-FREE CBD Oil - THC (the hallucinogen found in Marijuana) will NOT show up in your urine.

I've been taking this product every day (at least 50 mg a day) for 44 days straight. My urine was NEGATIVE for THC and everything else. I have not taken any narcotics or Ibuprofen for pain either (even a "faint line" = negative).

This stuff is amazing. I don't know what I would do without it!"

Some CBD has virtually no THC and even those tested can use it. CBD is legal in all 50 US states and many countries, including Canada, and others.

The Homemade CBD recipe posted in notes tab of this group, is FULL SPECTRUM and also has THC and other elements.

Those tested for drugs are advised to monitor their THC levels, using independent sources, such is drug testing at home or a cooperative Dr. See link below for more details and solutions. Do not be afraid to ask, in this group or research on your own. Many group on facebook advise on CBD and are free.

I want you to all know that good Drs approve of CBD and THC use for many reasons, not just cancer and glocoma. BTW both those diseases are worsened or caused by Rx antidepressants. I know it's hard to believe as first but the more you learn from honest careproviders and experts, the safer you'll be.

Remember, everyone is different, and there are cases of allergy to ingredients such as coconut oil, or CBD or THC.

Try a tiny amount first, and wait a day or so, if you have never been exposed to CBD or THC.

In all my life, I've only heard of a very few people allergic to THC/CBD,
so it's the safest most effective treatment.

Another great medicine is Phoenix Tears, a highly concentrated oil taken  orally a tiny dab at a time. I don't have the facilities to make that  but there are instructions online.

CBD vs. THC

Cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol are two of the most widely used and best-known of the 100+ compounds in the *cannabis *genus.
While they are extracted from the same family of plant, the two compounds interact with your body in dramatically different ways.

Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a psychoactive compound. By stimulating dopamine release and activating cannabinoid receptors, THC can alter the brain in a variety of ways and induce a “high” or sense of euphoria.

On the other hand, CBD is a non-psychoactive compound and does*not *induce a high. On its own, CBD can treat health problems like sleeplessness, stress, anxiety, and depression. When combined with THC, CBD may actually minimize the psychotropic effects of THC by inhibiting the THC from binding to cannabis receptors.
[Research](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306987705004317) suggests combining the two compounds may help reduce the negative effects of THC, such as paranoia and increased anxiety.
## CBD Benefits and Uses

After decades of villainization with the rest of the cannabis industry and scheduled as a narcotic, cannabidiol has only just begun to be researched and understood. Even in the early stages of research, medical scientists have discovered CBD oil could be used to treat a variety of physical and mental ailments.

Specifically, researchers have found CBD oil may be therapeutic for the following physical conditions:
* **Cancer.**
After avoiding cannabinoids for fear of unwanted psychoactive effects, some scientists are becoming increasingly interested in the non-psychoactive CBD oil as a potential anti-cancer drug.

Recent [research ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22506672) has found that CBD oil and cannabinoids can hinder the spread of cancer and induce the death of cancer cells.
* **Heart disease.
** A growing body of [evidence ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22670794) suggests CBD can help treat heart disease and strengthen the cardiovascular system by protecting against inflammation and other damage.
* **Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
** [Studies ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22163000) have named cannabidiol as an effective treatment for IBS because of its ability to control the neuroimmune system, a network of structures connecting the gut microbes, immune system, and central nervous system.
* **Glaucoma.**
[Researchers ] (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14578199) have discovered CBD could potentially be used as a topical therapy to treat glaucoma.
CBD and other cannabinoids have been shown to protect neuron cultures from glutamate-induced death.
* **Seizures and epilepsy.**
In recent years, medical [researchers ] (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24237632) have become increasingly interested in CBD as a treatment for seizures and epilepsy, particularly for children. CBD contains anticonvulsant properties like other cannabinoids, in addition to the advantage of being non-psychoactive.
* **Acne.
** Thanks to its [anti-inflammatory properties] (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25061872), cannabidiol has been introduced to lotions and other skincare products to treat acne.
* **Chronic pain.
** CBD has been [demonstrated ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17257464) to help ease pain and inflammation in a variety of chronic pain diseases, including arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
Beyond treating physical conditions, studies show CBD may be able to treat the following mental ailments:
* **Sleep disorders.
** One of the most intriguing properties of cannabidiol is its ability to promote restful sleep.
CBD has been used for centuries across many cultures as a sleep aid. Modern[research] (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17712817) finds that CBD can help improve sleep in a variety of ways, including regulating sleep patterns, alleviating pain, and reducing stress.
* **Anxiety.
** Mounting [evidence ](https://www.projectcbd.org/anxiety)shows that cannabidiol may be able to help reduce anxiety symptoms. CBD may be a powerful treatment for a variety of forms of anxiety, including social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
* **Depression.
** Abnormalities in the endocannabinoid system have been [linked ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21916860) to depression and suicide. [Research ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24923339)finds that CBD oil can help increase and stabilize the release of serotonin, a natural mood regulator.
* **PTSD.**
[Studies ](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/da.22031)find that the endocannabinoid system may be an ideal avenue for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CBD oil can be used to help minimize PTSD symptoms, including anxiety, nightmares, and insomnia.
* **Stress.**
Scientific [findings ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20439721)link the endocannabinoid system to the regulation of stress and other emotional behaviors.
## CBD Oil Risks
A [review ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5569602/) of studies with humans and animals has shown the following risks may be associated with CBD oil:
* **Lack of data.
**While many of the potential benefits of CBD oil have been observed in animals, a limited number of studies have been performed with humans. There is also a lack of data regarding how CBD may affect children or long-term users after several decades.
* **Toxicology. **Although research shows CBD has a relatively low toxicity, not all potential interactions have been studied. [Further research may be warranted ](http://www.who.int/medicines/access/controlled-substances/5.2_CBD.pdf)on CBD’s effect on hormones, the immune system, and embryonic development.
* **Lack of regulation. **Due to uncertainties about marijuana legality, there is limited FDA regulation surrounding CBD oil.
Lack of regulation means CBD products may vary widely in quality, labeling, purity, and reliability.
* **Interactions with other pharmaceuticals.
** [Studies ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4189631/)
suggest that CBD oil may interact adversely with certain drugs. CBD and other cannabinoids can inhibit the liver enzyme P450, which metabolizes many medications. At certain doses, CBD could impact the metabolization of pharmaceuticals like anti-epileptics, steroids, and antihistamines.
* **Overdosing.** [As with other cannabinoids] (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1465-3362.2009.00149.x/abstract;jsessionid=8E80190C664B369FBE63EBC9F7856A7E.f02t03), there have been no reported fatal overdose levels of CBD oil. [Studies](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5569602/) show that patients can tolerate quite high doses of cannabidiol. That said, high doses of CBD may increase severity of side effects such as drowsiness and nausea, and an excessive dose of CBD oil may be less effective than a moderate amount.
## Side Effects

Some mild to moderate side effects have been observed in humans taking CBD oil. Reported side effects include:
* **Changes in weight and appetite. **Like other cannabinoids, CBD oil may induce feelings of hunger. An increased appetite can lead to a change in eating patterns, which in turn can result in weight gain.
* **Tiredness.**
A natural sleep remedy, CBD oil may incite feelings of drowsiness. Feelings of tiredness could last for two to six hours, depending on the method of consumption.
* **Dizziness.**
CBD oil may cause a minor drop in blood pressure, resulting in an initial feeling of dizziness or lightheadedness.
* **Diarrhea.**
Diarrhea has been reported as a side effect accompanying high levels of CBD oil. To avoid diarrhea, users are advised to lower their dosage.
* **Dry mouth.**
As with other cannabinoids, CBD oil may interfere with saliva production and cause dry mouth or “cottonmouth”. This condition may lead to feelings of thirst and mild discomfort.

## How to take CBD Oil

Amid the CBD oil industry boom, an ever-expanding variety of cannabidiol products are joining the marketplace. Different CBD oil products can be taken in a variety of different ways, including topical application, oral ingestion, sublingual administration, and inhalation. The best method for taking CBD oil may depend on your unique health goals and personal preferences.

Learn more about the four main methods of taking CBD oil below.

Is CBD Oil Legal in Your State?

CBD oils are available in health food stores, pet shops, and online for delivery to destinations across the U.S. — even states where recreational and medical marijuana use is prohibited. However, the laws surrounding CBD usage in the U.S. can be incredibly confusing and legality in certain states is still murky.

On a federal level, CBD legality was established in the [2014 Farm Bill](https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-113hr2642enr/pdf/BILLS-113hr2642enr.pdf). Signed into law by former president Barack Obama, the federal bill permits the cultivation of “industrial hemp” for academic research purposes under authorized pilot programs or under state law “in which such institution of higher education or state department of agriculture is located and such research occurs”. Industrial hemp is defined as a part of the cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% THC. Effectively, the bill legalized CBD oil derived from industrial hemp on a national scale. Note that CBD oil derived from marijuana plants is still illegal under federal law.

On a local level, however, laws surrounding hemp – and marijuana-based CBD oil – may vary from state to state. According to the[National Conference of State Legislatures](http://www.ncsl.org/research/health/state-medical-marijuana-laws.aspx), there are currently 10 states that have legalized recreational and medical marijuana THC and CBD use. Meanwhile, a total of 31 states, plus the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico, have legalized marijuana and cannabis for public medical use. Beyond those states, there are 15 states that restrict access to CBD products derived from industrial hemp with less than 0.3 THC. Currently, there are four states where lack of legal concessions regarding CBD and low-THC products make legality unclear: Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
